Lawyer: Hakobyan has serious health problems
The lawyers of Hakob Hakobyan, a former lawmaker of the Armenian National Assembly arrested in February 2015 for ‘illegal entrepreneurial activities’ and ‘tax evasion,’ is going to address a letter to the Minister of Justice in connection with his client’s health condition.
In the letter, lawyer Karen Sardaryan will ask the minister to explain why his client did not receive the necessary medical care at the the Hospital of Convicts penitentiary.
“Hakobyan has serious health problems. The reasons for his transfer from the Hospital of Convicts are ungrounded. They did not examine Hakobyan and make a diagnosis to know his illness. They only concluded that since there was no need for urgent surgery, Hakobyan was to be taken back to the Nubarashen prison. In fact, Hakobyan was to have been examined thoroughly; his blood pressure often increases to 200 mm Hg,” Karen Sardaryan told A1+.
The lawyer is going to send another letter to Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan.
Hakob Hakobyan was transferred to the Hospital of Convicts penitentiary on March 9 but was taken back to the Nubarashen hours later.
