Civil activist Arsen Ohanyan was arrested on Monday morning. Talking to A1+ Company, Arsen’s friend Vahagn Minasyan said in the morning Arsen was summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department. After Arsen asked police officers to present a warrant, he was warned to follow them otherwise they promised to take him to the Department forcibly, charging him with beating. “To avoid incidents, Arsen followed them but at the Criminal Investigation Department he was presented a document stating that Arsen was put on the wanted list of the CIS in 2014,” said Vahagn Minasyan. He cannot understand how ‘a wanted man’ could have traveled to England this year. “It is sheer nonsense. The arrest is connected with his political and civil activities,” said Vahagn. Arsen is well-known for his participation in protests against a rise in public transportation fares. A1+ has contacted the Police Press Service to learn more details about the arrest. They told us that Arsen Ohanyan had been wanted for theft by law enforcement agencies of Russia’s Krasnodar Krai since November 2014.
