We have been hearing talks about the need of a regime change for 20 years now but we have not seen any changes so far, opposition lawmaker Nikol Pashinyan announced at the National Assembly today. Pashinyan said he participated in all events and came to the conclusion that ‘a change of power in Armenia will not take place even in the next 20 years until an institutional opposition has established in the country. The latter should first explain the steps it is going to take after coming to power and suggest a way to take the country out of the crisis.’ “This opposition should be accessible and understandable to all citizens,” said Pashinyan. He suggests replacing the institute of ‘super leaders’ by the institute of ‘super teams’ as in the crucial moment this super leader retreated but he had always had the authority to make a decision on behalf of 100 000 people.  “But no one told him, “”Who are you and how can you take such a decision? Who do you think you are? Are you a god to play with the fate of people? Now you decide that you will hold a rally, then you say you will not… Who are you? This does not refer to one person, thisrefers to all those who have made such a decision,” he said. Nikol Pashinyan added the position of an opposition leader is not a privilege; it is a role. He also stressed that the opposition is unable to unseat the authorities as it does not have enough proxies in 1988 polling stations, who can prevent election rigging. “And now the opposition announces that the authorities are rude to them. You have been saying the same thing for 20 years. If the opposition cannot have enough proxies in polling stations but says it has 3 proxies at each polling station, it is cheating its own people. It is also cheating when it says that it will overthrow the authorities. Every time we take people to the street and allow bloodshed and now we come and say that the authorities are rude… My words refer to me as well. Now it is time that we drew conclusions from our failures of the past 20 years.”
