Both the government and the opposition in Armenia became convinced that today Russia is not interested in a regime change in our country, says Chairman of the Yerevan Press Club Boris Navasardyan. If so, the forces demanding a change of government in Armenia will be deprived of the support and protection of Russia. “In some issues Russia supported the opposition in Armenia as a counterbalance to the government,” said Mr Navasardyan. It turns out that the positions of the forces seeking a power change have weakened and they had better temporarily waive their demand. Besides, the YPC chairman says, the aggravation of the interior political situation is not beneficial to the country’s oligarchic system. At the same time, Mr Navasardyan does not rule out that the Armenian revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun might again form a coalition government with the authorities. “They have a common opinion in many issues, including the Declaration of the Armenian Genocide, Armenian-Turkish Protocols, etc.” In the given situation, Mr Navasardyan excludes the second president’s return to politics. Robert Kocharyan is waiting for a convenient opportunity to return to politics. During the recent political developments he did not show any personal and political ambitions, rather he defended the opposition’s rights and interests, therby making a positive impression on people,” he said.
