The opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) has issued a statement inviting everyone to participate in its rally scheduled for March 1. After the opposition forces in Armenia announced about their plan to hold an ‘urgent all-national rally,’ the government launched a series of actions, including violence and threats, against the opposition to thwart the rally scheduled for February 20. The Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) became the main target for political reprisals and threats. Today, the BHK said it will not participate in the rally it had scheduled for this Friday along with the HAK and the Heritage Party,” reads the statement. The Armenian National Congress understands BHK’s statement and says it will use all possible means of the political struggle to stop violence against its partner. At the same time HAK reiterates its determination to continue the fight aimed at unseating the illegal regime and establishing democracy in the country and invites everyone to participate in its rally to be held in Liberty Square on March 1 (3.00 Yerevan time). “The Yerevan Municipality has been notified of the rally which will focus on the current political situation in the country and discuss the future steps of the popular movement,” HAK said in the statement.
