Former and current employees of Nairit Plant have gathered outside the Armenian government demanding the executive to fix a payment schedule for their unpaid salaries. “We do not demand that they pay our salaries in a month or two, but we want them to say definitely when they are going to repay our salaries,” said the employees. They handed a latter with their demand to Alexander Ghazaryan, Head of the Government Department that deals with the acceptance and discussion of citizen requests. The latter promised to answer the group in a little while. In the meantime, employees of the chemical plant are waiting in front of the government building chanting, “We want our salaries.” Nairit Plant CJSC, which produces chloroprene rubber and was considered a giant of its kind during the Soviet era, hasn’t been operating since 2010. About 1700 employees of the plant were laid off in February 2015.
