Ministry: Occasional ice on Vardenyants mountain pass
No precipitation was reported in Armenia as of 9:30 a.m. February 16, says the country’s Ministry of Transport and Communication. Some sections of Vardenyants mountain pass are covered by slippery ice. The Ministry says roads are being covered by salt and sand mixtures to ensure safe driving. All roads of interstate and republican importance are trafficable. Ministry of Territorial Administration and Emergency Situations reports that Sotk-Karvachar highway is heavy-going and recommends motorists to use winter tyres. According to the information provided by the Road Department of the Georgian Ministry, Stepantsminda-Lars highway is open for all types of vehicles.
