Two Armenian soldiers killed in latest ceasefire violation
Azerbaijan continues its actions to destabilize the situation on the border and launches more reconnaissance-sabotage infiltration attempts, says Artsrun Hovhannisyan, a spokesman for Armenia’s Ministry of Defence. "Despite their numerous losses, which is kept in secret, Azerbaijani armed forces continue committing tactically senseless acts of sabotage. The enemy violated the ceasefire a total of 300 times overnight. In the morning of January 23, at around 9am, Azerbaijani special detachments attacked a number of positions in Berd, Tavush region of Armenia.Armenian vanguard units timely spotted the enemy’s advancement. This was followed by firefight that lasted about 30 minutes. The enemy suffered losses and was thrown back to its original positions. Unfortunately, the Armenian side suffered losses in the shoot-out. Lieutenant Karen A. Galstyan and private Artak V. Sargsyan were killed. A number of servicemen were injured. The Defence Ministry offers its condolences to the relatives and friend of the killed servicemen. The entire responsible for the border tension lies on Azerbaijan’s political and military leadership," said Artsrun Hovhannisyan.
