Surgery is over: Gyumri murder survivor is in serious but stable condition
The six-month-old infant, who survived the brutal murder in Gyumri, has undergone a second surgery today. In a statement issued on Friday, the Ministry of Health said Seryozha Avetisyan remains in critical but stable condition. Doctors made the decision to operate on the six-month-old infant after an extended consultation during which they held a video conference with leading specialists from best clinics of Israel, Freiburg (Germany), Moscow and St Petersburg (Russia). During the surgery, a ventricular drain was inserted into the child’s cranial cavity to exclude Life-threatening complications and the risk of disability in the future. William Khachatryan, Head of the Polenov Russian Neurosurgical Institute, performed the surgery together with Armenian specialists. Heath Minister Armen Muradyan was at the clinic throughout the operation. The surgery was successful thanks to the efforts of specialists. The child is now in an intensive care unit.
