OSCE suspends monitoring after Azerbaijan starts shooting

On January 14, in accordance with the arrangement reached with the authorities of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, the OSCE Mission conducted a planned monitoring of the Line of Contact between the armed forces of Nagorno-Karabakh and Azerbaijan in the Hadrut direction near Horadiz settlement, the press service of the NKR Foreign Ministry said. From the positions of the NKR Defense Army, the monitoring was conducted by Field Assistants of the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office Khristo Khristov (Bulgaria) and Jiri Aberle (Czech Republic). From the opposite side of the Line of Contact, Field Assistants Yevgeny Sharov (Ukraine) and Simon Tiller (Great Britain) and an employee of the OSCE Office Peter Swedberg (Sweden), participated in the monitoring. Representatives of the NKR Defense Army and Ministry of Foreign Affairs  accompanied the Mission members to the defense positions. However, the OSCE Mission had to stop the planned monitoring on the Line of Contact after hearing a gunshot from the Azerbaijani side.
