The results of the forensic examination in the case of attack on opposition lawmaker Aram Manukyan are not available yet. “When we have the results, we shall inform you,” Armen Manukyan, a legal representative Aram Manukyan, told A1+. Aram Manukyan, a senior member of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), was confronted by an unknown assailant as he was returning home at around 8 pm, December 11. The attacker did not say anything to Manukyan, but at once started hitting him in the face and then took to flight. HAK representatives connect the attack with the lawmaker’s political activities and say it was politically motivated. Arshak Svazyan, the 42-year-old man detained in connection with the attack on the opposition lawmaker, was sent home after giving give a written undertaking not to leave the city. A criminal case was filed on the hallmarks of Article 117 of the Criminal Code (Infliction of a willful bodily injury or other damage to health which caused short-term health disorder or insignificant loss of the capacity to work), which envisages prison arrest for up to 2 months.
