A criminal case was launched with regard to the abuse of official powers
A criminal case was launched based on the report of the prisoner as per the materials prepared in the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia under Part 1 of Article 308 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. The prisoner reports than since February or March 2014 while carrying his punishment in “Hrazdan” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia, upon the agreement reached with the official of the said institution, with the assistance of his relatives he bought about two dozens of mobile phones of different models and value and in the form of a package he brought them to the Criminal-Executive Institution. He sold them to different prisoners and gave the profit gained to the official-on-duty in the Criminal-Executive Institution. As per the agreement reached between them, the said official by ensuring a free access of the phones to the Criminal-Executive Institution also ensured that no searches were made in the cells of the prisoners who had bought them unless the amounts of the phones were paid. After receiving the sums obtained from the sale of the phones from him, as a result of the searches made on the instructions of the official of the Criminal-Executive Institution the phones were confiscated so as to ensure their constant demand in the future.
