Anahit Bakhsyan: Forgive us. We did not deserve your sacrifice, we remained slaves
Anahit Bakhshyan, a member of the Barev Yerevan (Hello Yerevan) bloc at the Yrevan City Council, has addressed a letter to Armenian national hero Movses Gorgisyan. “Happy birthday, dear Movses, our national hero, I want to thank your parents and you family members. It seems to be an irony of fate that on the day of your birth our parliament is discussing the treaty on ‘entrusting’ our independence, official language and currency to Russia. Dear Movses, I wish a miracle happened and you raised your head and threw the title of Hero, bestowed upon you with the blessing of our people, onto the face of the people who are ratifying this shameful treaty and shouted, “Viva Armenia that will be won and kept by people like me!” Since the miracle will not occur, we can only bow our heads humbly in memory of you and your friends and say, “Forgive us, guys. We did not deserve your sacrifice, we remained slaves,” the letter reads.
