Berkaber border village to have protective wall
Armenian village of Berkaber in northeastern Tavush province is only a few hundred meters away from the border with Azerbaijan. The village is a target for Azerbaijani troops and often comes under enemy fire. During Azerbaijan's act of sabotage early this August when along with other border settlements the village was kept under frequent shelling by the enemy, with the village school becoming the main target. The schoolchildren are especially endangered during the breaks when they played outside the school. The construction of a concrete wall became an imperative given the constant threat of shelling. However, huge sums were needed to construct the wall which the local budget could not afford at that moment. After studying the problem and considering the limited financial resources of the village, representatives of VivaCell-MTS decided to stretch out a helping hand to the village. The wall will be constructed with the personal donations of the Accounting and Finance Department employees. ShinTechService Ltd has agreed to weld the metal frames for free as a sign of goodwill.
