Armenian Ombudsman receives relatives of March 1 tragedy

Armenia’s Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan received on Monday the relatives of the victims of the March 1, 2008 tragedy that left 10 people killed in the Armenian capital. The group was accompanied by lawmaker Aram Manukyan. The guests expressed their deep concern and discontent over the lack of progress in the investigation into the March 1 events and said they distrust the legal process. The victims’ parents requested that the Ombudsman continue raising the problem at his meetings with European commissioners for human rights. Karen Andreasyan made a number of proposals and expressed his willingness to contribute to the investigation within his authority.
