Civic activist David Sanasaryan has started a hunger strike outside the OSCE Office in Yerevan against the destruction of an Armenian helicopter in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone. He demands that the reasons behind the downing of the helicopter be revealed and the bodies of the killed pilots be returned to Armenia. “This is not only the responsibility of the Defence Ministry,” the spokesman for the Heritage Party wrote on his Facebook page. “We sit in our homes and write new Facebook statuses, enjoying every minute thanks to our soldiers who guard our borders day and night. And what are we doing for the three killed soldiers whose bodies remain in the crash site. The only structure in Armenia that I have implicit trust for is the Armed Forces. I know that they feel responsible for removing the bodies of our dead pilots from Azerbaijan's shelling. But I also know that they do not want to have news losses. And what are the OSCE Co-Chairs doing? What have they done to help us received our crewmembers? And if they have done anything, it is too little. I pose my demand to the OSCE Office in Yerevan and announce an indefinite hunger strike as long as our boys remain in the mouth of the wolf…. I urge the MoD not to see this hunger strike as provocation. I believe in your composed and ever-new decisions," said Mr Sanasaryan.
