Citizen subjected to torture in psychiatric hospital
Based on the report of citizen Julieta A., a criminal case was launched based on the materials prepared in the Special Investigation Service of Armenia in accordance with Part 2 of Article 119, Paragraph 2 of Part 2 of Article 134 and Part 2 of Article 309 of the Criminal Code, the SIS Press Service repots. Julieta A. reports that she was illegally taken to the psychiatric hospital against her will and with the use of violence committed by the employees of Malatia Department of Yerevan city Administration of the Police and Avan Psychiatric Clinic of Yerevan city where she was kept for a month and subjected to torture. The medical staff also committed violence against her. A preliminary investigation is underway. The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
