Boy injured in major road accident in Shirak region to undergo surgery in Yerevan

A 47-year-old woman injured in a major road accident in Armenia’s Shirak region has been transferred from the intensive care unit to a ward. The woman had 35 % of her body surface burnt in the accident that occurred earlier this week. Seven people were killed and another seven injured in the accident. Another injured passenger, a 14-year-old boy, was transferred from a Gyumri hospital to Surb Astvatsamayr medical centre in Yerevan where he will undergo surgery on Nov. 13. The boy has several fractures.  The health condition of the other five passengers is described as satisfactory. They are being treated in different hospitals. The tragic road accident occurred at about 7:15 pm (local time) on Monday, November 10. A passenger minibus crashed into a truck near Horom village on the 108th km of the Yerevan-Gyumri highway, killing seven people and injuring another seven passengers. The driver of the truck has been detained by police. An investigation is underway.
