Armenian Ombudsman, US Ambassador discuss internal issues
Armenia’s Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan received on Monday US Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern. The two men exchanged thoughts on the challenges in the field of human rights protection and focused on the activities of the Prosecutor General’s Office, Special Investigation Service, and Investigation Committee of the country. They reaffirmed their commitment to deepen cooperation in several domains of mutual priority. Ambassador Heffern highly appreciated the activities of the Ombudsman’s Office given the limited human resources. In his turn, Ombudsman Karen Andreasyan attached importance to the role of the U.S. Embassy in strengthening democratic values and protecting human rights in Armenia. He also stressed the importance of deepening the Armenian-American friendly relations.
