Political analyst: 500 000 people should stay in Liberty Square for six years if they really seek power change (video)
Armenia is finalizing its accession to the Eurasian Economic Union at the same time trying to maintain ties with Europe, says political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan. He does not predict major developments in the country’s political domain and ‘sees no prerequisites for early elections.’ “The need for changes is not enough to call snap elections; they [opposition forces] also need resources,” said the political analyst. Mr Iskandaryan reminds that of the three opposition leaders only Chairman of the Heritage Party Raffi Hovannisian participated in the presidential elections. “Although Raffi Hovannisian received 37% of the votes, his Heritage party gained only 8% of the votes in the parliamentary elections.” “Not until the opposition is able to rally 500 000 people and keep them in Liberty Square for six months, shall we be able to speak about a change in power,” he said.
