Armenia’s Defense Minister receives Hakob Injighulyan
Armenia’s Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan received on Wednesday Armenian serviceman Hakob Injighulyan and his family members. Seyran Ohanyan thanked Injighulyan for his endurance and patriotic spirit. Mr Injighulyan presented in detail the inhuman treatment and the psychological and physical pressure he had been subjected to during Azerbaijani captivity. Seyran Ohanyan expressed hope that Hakob Injighulyan will quickly recover in his homeland and in the warm atmosphere of his family members. He stressed that Azerbaijan’s authorities have developed a special policy of forcing the Armenian serviceman into leaving for a third country after subjecting them to psychological pressures, torture, and death threats; they aim to show that conditions in the Armenian army and in the Nagorno-Karabakh defense army are so hard that their return to Armenia is inadvisable. Hakob Injighulyan, an ordinary soldier of the Armenian army, was unable to reveal Azerbaijan’s ill intentions. At the end of the talk, Seyran Ohanyan commended Hakob Injighulyan for wishing to continue his military service after such an ordeal. Injighulyan returned to Armenia on October 2, 2014, after being released from Azerbaijani custody and deported to a third country. He claimed to have been tortured and intimidated during his yearlong captivity in Azerbaijan.
