Armenia is not insured against the Ebola virus
The number of acute respiratory infections has not increased in Armenia as compare with the previous year, says a chief specialist at the epidemiology department at the healthcare ministry. This year the weather became colder a bit earlier but Liana Torosyan assures everyone that there is no need to worry about viruses. The epidemiologist says Armenians have not developed the culture of withdrawing from society and staying at home for several days during the illness. “Staying at home for two days, you can get better much faster. Listen to doctors, drink fluids and do not try to use self-medication,” she says. Speaking about the Ebola virus, Liana Torosyan said the Ministry has prepared helpful posters on the virus which will be handed out to passengers in planes. Also, they are working with other ministries in order to have people arriving in Armenia examined. She advises everyone to keep calm and not to panic, because Ebola has not reached our region. “The virus is spread in African countries. We can feel protected knowing that there are not direct flights from Africa but, unfortunately, a virus does not require a patent,” she said.
