NSS: University official detained when taking bribe
On September 25, employees of the National Security Service detained Mkrtich Ghukasyan, an official of Armenian State Pedagogical University after Khachatur Abovyan in charge of distance-learning course, on bribery charges. Mkrtich Ghukasyan was detained when receiving bribe from a Yerevan citizen, the NSS said in a statement. Ghukasyan demanded and received $1,700 from a Ts. Hovannisyan for helping her to get enrolled in the University’s Distance Learning Department. The National Security Service has initiated a criminal case under the Article 311/1 of the Armenian Criminal Code. Investigation is in progress.
