US Embassy correcting reports
The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) began a study of Armenia's shale gas resources in 2011. The survey is on-going and is expected to be finalized late this year, or early next year, the U.S. Embassy in Armenia reports.
On May 22, U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John A. Heffern stated, "The U.S. Geological Survey was here and did some work last year, and they are working on an analysis now in Washington. When we get that analysis this year we will share it with the Armenian government and the public."
The U.S. Embassy in Armenia is releasing this statement to correct erroneous media reports.
