Court rejects to release governor's son on bail
Armenia's Defense Ministry reports that the son of Syunik Governor Surik Khachatryan, and bodyguard Zarzand Nikoghosyan, have been charged under several articles in connection with the June 1 shootout outside the home of the governor's home in Goris.
They have been charged under Article 104 (Part 2, Point 6) - murder committed in a way dangerous to the lives of many persons, Article 235 (Part 1) - illegal procurement, transportation, keeping or carrying of weapons, explosives or explosive devices), Article 112 (Part 1) - infliction of willful bodily damage which is dangerous for life).
Later the same day petitions were submitted to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Sunik province to apply detention as a measure of restraint against Nikoghosyan and Khachatryan. The Court upheld the petitions at the same time rejecting the bail petitions submitted by the defenders.
