Sasun Mikaelyan: I never understood Raffi Hovannisian
A new opposition will be formed in Armenia in the coming year, says Sasun Mikaelyan, commander of the Sasun detachment.
Hesays there are still healthy forces and individuals in Armenia who have not lost their "ego" over the years.
"The biggest problem is that the government does not care to strengthen the foundations of the state; it is concerned about the interests of certain officials and circles," he said.
Asked whether the newly formed opposition would be headed by opposition MP Nikol Pashinyan, Sasun Mikaelyan said, "Subtle reference to a glaring fact. Time will show."
Then he drew parallels between the votes the Armenian National Congress (ANC) scored in the 2009 and 2013 municipal elections.
"In the previous election, ANC polled 69 000 votes. Today, it has scored 19 000 votes because of its right or wrong policy."
Mikaelyan says the political parties ‘received as many votes as they deserved.'
Speaking about the new government which has been confirmed by Serzh Sargsyan today, Sasun Mikaelyan said, "It will not bring significant changes or curb the mounting migration."
With regard to the policy of Heritage party leader Raffi Hovannisian, Mr Mikaelyan said, "Many people trusted him, but I never understood his policy. The movement led by Hovannisian died away very early, killing the faith of people."
