Armenia's acting Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian refuses to comment on media rumors that he will not receive a portfolio in the new government.

"I do not think that the rumours are worth commenting," Nalbandian said on April 17 during a joint press conference with Council of Europe Secretary General Thorbjørn Jagland.

During the joint meeting, Mr Nalbandian also stressed that ‘Armenia is ready to normalize relations with Hungary but Budapest should undertake steps.

Armenia suspended its diplomatic relations with Hungary in August 2012 after Hungary extradited Ramil Safaraov, an Azerbaijani murderer of Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan, to Azerbaijan where he was immediately pardoned and glorified.

On May 16, Armenia is to assume the Presidency of the Council of Europe. In this connection, Edward Nalbandian said Armenia highlights that Europeans remain committed to democracy, human rights and the rule of law. Armenian will find many things to surprise Europeans.

"I would like to mention the Strasbourg-hosted performance of Spartacus Ballet," said the acting FM.

In his turn, the CoE Secretary General said he was glad that Armenian decided to investigate [on a parliamentary level] the post-election murders that took place in the country on March 1, 2008. He said that the Council of Europe is going to strengthen its presence in Armenia ‘in order to be able to oblige you to fulfill your commitments.'
