FFA Executive Committee rejects Minasyan's resignation
The Executive Committee of the Armenian Football Federation (FFA) has rejected the resignation letter of Vardan Minasyan, Chief Coach of the Armenian national football team, FFA President Ruben Hayrapetyan told reporters on Friday.
He says Minasyan is not to blame for the team's ongoing defeats, and the Executive Committee refused to accept his resignation as they believe that the national football team needs Minasyan.
"Vardan Minasyan was broken-down. The team was tasked to win the game but it failed to do it. There is no need to blame the defeat on Minasyan. If he were a non-professional coach, I would accept his resignation. We have plans to carry out with Minasyan," said Mr Hayrapetyan.
If Minasyan tenders his resignation for a second time, it will mean the Federation is dealing with a not serious person, the FFA President said.
"Do you think that we are playing cat and mouse? We all shoulder a great responsibility for the national team," he stressed.
Regarding the statement of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Henrik Mkhitaryan who said some football players in the Armenian team did not demonstrate good performace in the 2014 World Cup qualifier against Czechs, Ruben Hayrapetyan said, "Henrik was right, yet it does not mean that he was supposed to say it. Henrik is a football player like any other footballer in the national team. He had no right to say such a thing."
Armenia ended the WC 2014 qualifier with a 0-3 defeat to land in the bottom of group B.
