Armen Martirosyan: Will opposition MPs put down mandates?
The Heritage party has always said that it supports the idea of a joint ticket, but the party does not see any problems if, for example, the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (Dashnaktustyun) decides to run with a separate list. This will only reduce the chances, Armen Martirosyan, Vice-Chairman of the Heritage party, told journalists in Freedom square on March 13.
"The names on the list are not as important as the citizens standing in Freedom square," said the Heritage official.
"The upcoming City Council elections are simply part of our struggle. We attach more importance to the struggle and its outcome. Our final victory will also be advantageous to the authorities who will have an opportunity for self-purification," he said.
Regarding the likelihood of snap parliamentary elections, Mr Martirosyan said the process will speed up if opposition lawmakers rescind their mandates.
"The question is whether or not the opposition MPs are ready to do it," said the Heritage vice-chair.
Nikol Pashinyan, a lawmaker of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK), was present at the press conference.
