Sedrakyan formally charged with attempting to assassinate Hayrikyan
Armenia's National Security Service has brought formal charges against presidential candidate, epos expert Vardan Sedrakyan under Article 34-305 of the country's Criminal Code (assassination attempt on a state, political or public figure).
Sedrakyan is accused of masterminding the assassination on presidential candidate Paruyr Hayrikyan outside the latter's house in Yerevan in January 2013, the NSS said promising to keep public informed of the investigation.
Earlier the National Security Service filed a petition to a Yerevan Court to place Sedrakyan under a two-month provisional arrest. Sedrakyan is currently at the "Yerevan-Kentron" Penitentiary Institution.
