Will Syunik Governor meet Hovannisian?
Leader of the opposition Heritage party, presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian continues nation-wide protests against the outcome of the February 18 presidential election. Today he visited Armenia's southern Meghri city in Syunik marz, to meet local voters.
"Most people in your marz demand that Syunik governor [Suren Khachatryan] resign," Mr Hovannisian said during a public meeting with Meghri Mayor Arsahvir Hovhannisyan.
Hovannisian also invited Syunik governor Suren Khachatryan to a meeting at 3.00 p.m.
In the conversation with the Meghri Mayor, the Heritage leader said that people in Meghri were disgruntled by the results of the February 18 presidential election. Arsahvir Hovhannisian disagreed with Hovannisian and advised him to come out and talk to the locals to know their opinion.
Raffi Hovannisian is scheduled to visit Agarak, Meghri, Kajaran, Kapan, Goris and Sisian as part of his tour to Armenia's Syunik marz.
Last Thursday, Raffi Hovannisian held a closed-door meeting with Serzh Sargsyan in the presidential resident. The following day, Hovannisian said Sargsyan had rejected all his three offers, including the possibility of holding a repeat presidential election and snap parliamentary elections.
