Raffi Hovannisian votes in presidential election

The leader of Heritage Party, presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian attended the polling station N10/26 without his family.

"I voted for progress, for constitution and for development of Armenia," the candidate said after the voting.

"February 18 is a decisive day in Armenia's newest history. It is the day when people will finally mark not the victory or defeat of someone but will celebrate their right to vote," he said.

The presidential candidate welcomed his contenders, wishing them success in the Monday ballot. At the same time he underlined that the campaign was not held in equal conditions. Raffi Hovannisian expressed his content with media outlets, saying the candidates' free access to the media field was fully guaranteed.

Raffi Hovhannisian also addressed a message to incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan. "Accepting the victory of the people will be even more heroic than his contribution to the Karabakh liberation war. It will be the manifestation of the biggest state, national and political self-evaluation and respect to people," he said.

Speaking about technical issues, Raffi Hovannisian stressed that the stamp put in voters' passports can be easily erased with wet napkins.

Seven candidates are running in the Monday election: chairman of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, Heritage party chairman Raffi Hovannisian, leader of Freedom party, former prime minister Hrant Bagratyan, former foreign minister of Nagorno-Karabakh Republic Arman Melikyan, Chairman of the National Self-Determination Union party Paruyr Hayrikyan, Radio Hay director Andrias Ghukasyan and epos expert Vardan Sedrakyan.
