Candidates did not consider possibility of withdrawal
If Serzh Sargsyan continues to pursue the policy of the past five years, Armenia will not record any economic growth and our citizens cannot exercise their constitutional right, says presidential candidate Raffi Hovannisian.
The leader of the opposition Heritage party says he will be able to solve the country's socio-economic problems and curb emigration if he is elected in the February 18 presidential election.
"We shall create favourable conditions for all those, who have left the country in the last five years, to return to their villages and cities," Mr Hovannisian told reporters on February 8.
Regarding his alleged consolidation with presidential candidates Hrant Bagratyan and Paruyr Hayrikyan, the Heritage leader said he had met with the two candidates but they had not considered the possibility of consolidation.
"After the assassination attempt on Paruyr Hayrikyan, I met with Bagratyan. We discussed the imperative to consolidate efforts but did not consider the issue of withdrawal," said Mr Hovannisian.
The presidential candidate says he has respect for sociological surveys but does not give much importance to them as their ‘findings' do not correspond to reality.
"According to the recent survey I take the second position after Serzh Sargsyan. I must confess that at present each of us has 40% of votes at worst," he said.
