The decision of the opposition parties to bow out of the presidential race does not mean that they are boycotting the February 18 election.

"The Armenian National Congress, Prosperous Armenia Party and Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun have decided to tacitly leave the political arena, leaving 40 percent of the electorate in disappointment," says political scientist Gagik Keryan.

The expert reminds that boycott is a serious action which implies active participation in political processes.
The political scientist says all forces that did not field their candidates in February's election, are helping Serzh Sargsyan to be re-elected as the country's president while they could have garnered a large number of votes during the election.

In his turn, sociologist Gevorg Poghosyan added that with their move to withdraw from the presidential race, the aforesaid forces deepened disappointment in the society.
