The two officials exchanged views on expanding bilateral relations between Armenia and the UAE and discussed a number of regional and international issues.

In Abu Dhabi, the Armenian official also held talks with his UAE counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The two diplomats underscored the opening of a UAE Embassy in Armenia and discussed issues of the international agenda, including the tense situation in Gaza and Syria.

Minister Nalbandian briefed his colleague on the ongoing efforts towards settling the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The two men also reflected on collaboration within international organizations.

After the meeting, the two FMs signed an intergovernmental agreement on air communication between the United Arab Emirates and the Republic of Armenia.

The Air Services Agreement (ASA) provides the legal framework for regulation and cooperation in air services.

The UAE official recalled her visits to Armenia and noted that the arrangements reached during those visits were being implemented. The interlocutors considered the preparations for establishing an intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation, and reflected on the ways to increase the volume of agricultural products which are exported to the UAE from Armenia.

Later in the day, Edward Nalbandian met with representatives from the Armenian community of the United Arab Emirates in the Armenian Embassy in Abu Dhabi.
