Protest action is support of HAK activists
Activists and supporters of the opposition Armenian National Congress (HAK) are staging a protest outside Yerevan's Criminal Appellate Court in support of the four jailed opposition activists- Tigran Arakelyan, David Kiramijyan, Sargis Gevorgyan and Artak Karapetyan.
Participating in the event are also representatives of Heritage and Prosperous Armenia (BHK) parties.
Carrying posters "Criminal Courts," "Armenia without Prisoners," "We say ‘no' to Stalinism!" the protesters are trying to call the Court's attention to their demand.
The Court is to hear on Friday the case of the four activists who were sentenced to 2-6 years in prison following an August 2011 standoff with police officers in a Yerevan park. They are charged with hooliganism against a representative of law-enforcement body.
