Azerbaijan sends “terrorist” to Armenia
The National Security Service of Armenia has curbed another provocation attempt by Azerbaijani special services.
"On September 24, Zamirzhon Otazhonov, a 33-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, appealed to the law enforcement bodies of Armenia expressing his readiness to commit a terrorist act in Baku for $ 20 000. He explained his move by the refusal of an Azerbaijani construction company to pay his salary, which, he said, aroused hatred in him towards Azerbaijanis.
As a result of operative-investigative measures undertaken, the RA National Security Service revealed that Otazhonov acted by the instructions of Azerbaijani Special Services. That action was nothing but a provocation aimed at presenting Armenia as a sponsor of terrorism through international organizations and mass media.
Interestingly, Otazhonov was sent to Armenia following the extradition and pardoning of Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov, who was serving a life sentence in a Hungarian jail for hacking to death Armenian officer Gurgen Margaryan at NATO-sponsored English-language courses in Budapest in 2004.
Thus, the Special Forces of Azerbaijan tried to use Otazhonov to soften the wave of discontent over Safarov's extradition. Despite the fact that Armenia has repeatedly stated and proved that any act of terrorism is reprehensible and unacceptable, Azerbaijan has resorts to this ridiculous and preposterous adventure to conceal its crimes," the NSS press office reports.
Otazhonov has been deported from Armenia.
