Mayor of Gyumri City, Vardan Ghukasyan, has addressed another letter to Ashot Aghababyan, a lawmaker from the ruling Republican Party (HHK) who said in an interview earlier this month that it would be better for Gyumri if Ghukasyan were no longer mayor.

In his previous letter, Ghukasyan called Aghababyan "Vasak" (referring to Vasak Syuni, a 5th century Armenian prince who was known in the history as a traitor). Ghukasyan also expressed his regret in the letter for having Burnash [Aghababyan's nickname] elected lawmaker twice.

"This is the last time I address to you through the press. Everyone is well aware of your amoral character, therefore, whatever I say about a family, home and other virtues, it will be incomprehensible for people like you. So we shall meet, when you get somewhere riding your scooter," Ghukasyan said.

The HHK earlier said it would support Samvel Balasanyan, a candidate of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) during the September 9 mayoral elections in Gyumri. Ghukasyan, who has governed the city for 14 years, has already resigned as the head of the HHK Shirak branch.
