Sirunyan unaware of Siradeghyan's whereabouts
Suren Sirunyan, ex-security chief of Armenia's former interior minister Vano Siradeghyan, cannot say whether his boss is in Armenia or not.
"I personally saw him off in 2000," Sirunyan told a news conference today. "On April 3, 2000, I left him in the vicinity of Sundukyan Theatre. I have not seen him ever since."
To a journalist's remark that perhaps Siradeghyan visited the French Embassy [in the neighborhood of the theatre] where he also attended on the night of October 27, 1999, Sirunyan said he did not look back according to his early arrangement with Siradeghyan.
The next day, Sirunyan was summoned to the Department of Criminal Investigation of the Armenian Police where he was interrogated in connection with Siradeghyan's mysterious disappearance.
"The polygraph, that lie detector which was to verify the offenders charged in the October 27 case, was first tested on me in Armenia. However, the detector did not show anything," said Sirunyan.
In response to a journalist's question whether he had told the truth, Suren Sirunyan said, "Surely not. Had I told the truth, I would have sided with the Rule of Law (OEK) or Republican Party (HHK) today."
Asked whether he was not afraid that the police might take interest in him after today's revelations, Sirunyan said he did not care. Nor does he care about the statement of Deputy Chief of Police [Hunan Poghosyan] who said recently that ‘Siradeghyan will be arrested as soon as he returns to Armenia.'
"I did not expect to hear anything else from Poghosyan as Vano Siradeghyan is wanted by Interpol," he said.
In conclusion, Sirunyan said that he wants his ex-boss to return as he feels demand for it.
