The free, fair and competitive presidential elections held in Artsdakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) on July 19 speak of the loyalty and commitment of the Artsakh authorities and people to democracy and the rule of law, Armenia's Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian said on Friday.

He welcomes the presence of international observers in the presidential poll who said that the elections were transparent, well organized and consistent with international standards.

"I do not think that any democratic country can challenge the need and importance of forming government through democratic elections. The international community, of course, should be interested in establishing relations with Artsakh authorities chosen by the country's people - something envisaged by the mandate of the OSCE Minsk Conference.

By these elections, the people of Artsakh once again proved their determination to dispose their destiny in a  democratic way," said Minister Nalbandyan.
