Tigran Arakelyan: “This is political revenge”
"It's magical," this is how Armenian National Congress (HAK) youth activist Tigran Arakelyan described the criminal case instigated against him and his friends. Tigran Arakelyan has been in jail for the past eleven months already.
In his defense speech during today's trial, Tigran Arakelyan mentioned that this was political revenge against him for the incident that took place with the police in 2009.
"I was previously charged not for breaking someone's nose, but for ripping someone's ear off. The eyewitness of that case, who was an eyewitness for the current case as well, showed up to court with both of his ears and testified," mentioned Tigran Arakelyan.
Tigran Arakelyan is still giving his defense speech.
Tigran Arakelyan petitioned to have his speech recorded, but Judge Gagik Poghosyan rejected, mentioning that the trial can be recorded for only ten minutes.
