Next summit due in Yerevan
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Minister of Education and Science Armen Ashotyan participated in the first Eastern Partnership summit of the European People's Party in Batumi. President of the European People's Party (EPP) Wilfred Martens, Georgia's President Mikheil Saakashvili, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for European Integration Grigol Baramidze, Moldova's Prime Minister Vlad Filat and Minister for Foreign Affairs and European Integration Yuri Lyanke.
The summit discussed cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership and the perspectives of its development.
During the summit, reference was made to the cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership and the perspectives of its development. The participants also referred to the development of cooperation between the parties of the Eastern Partnership countries, which are members of EPP, reinforcement of the political platform of the Eastern Platform, promotion of cooperation within the framework of the Eastern Partnership.
The Armenian FM presented Armenia's approaches to the issues on the agenda.
On behalf of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, EPP President Wilfried Martens, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, and Prime Minister of Moldova Vlad Filat, the Summit adopted a joint declaration on the perspectives of the Eastern Partnership and cooperation between the EPP member-parties. The next meeting in this format will take place in Yerevan at the end of the year.
On the sidelines of the summit, Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had a meeting with EPP President Wilfred Martens. The interlocutors exchanged views on Armenia-EU cooperation.
