Russia and China have finally decided to come to terms on changing Syrian President Bashar Assad's regime-something that the UN Security Council, the United States, Western Europe and the Arab League countries had been proposing for nearly one and a half year now, reports Reuters agency.

We remind that the West demanded replacing Assad, charging him with killing thousands of peaceful civilians, but Russia and China defended the Syrian President and underlined that his administration was legitimate.

Several days ago, Russia proposed to hold new presidential elections in Syria, which would be viewed as a step toward the opposition.

Apparently, Assad hadn't accepted the offer.

According to Reuters, "the Russians sent a signal to special envoy of the UN for Syria Kofi Annan that they accepted Annan's plan to create a coalitional government".

The UN Security Council is ready to establish a coalitional government in Syria, which will include only the opposition forces. Bashar Assad won't be part of the coalition.
