Geghamyan kept looking at the HAK deputies
I have never formed a part of the government, and that is why I will feel less constrained in my speech," said deputy of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) Artashes Geghamyan.
He praised the government's plan and strictly criticized the government that was formed in 1991. In his speech, he spun and kept looking at the faction of the Armenian National Congress (HAK).
Geghamyan says the plan shouldn't be sharply criticized and said the following as he looked at the HAK deputies:
"You talk about the bandit regime, but the foundations of that kind of a regime were laid in the 1990s and led to the emergence of wealthy people, some of which, thank God, have become law-abiding."
Geghamyan declared that he would vote for the government's plan.
HHK deputy Vardan Ayvazyan also spoke in defense of the government's plan and mentioned: "I am against turning any discussion on the government's plan at the National Assembly into a show, especially since those who do that are criticizing the government that has formed a political majority."
Deputy of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) Artsvik Minasyan declared that the ARF-D didn't understand what kind of an economy the country would have in accordance with the government's plan. Assessing several indicators included in the plan, Minasyan mentioned that Armenia was falling behind all of its competing countries in the region and around the world. According to him, the only solution is the following: "We need to take a decisive step, that is, to make the transition to a free and democratic economy, and only in that case would our government's plan be a good one."
Hovik Abrahamyan declared that the parliament would hold a vote for the government's plan in the next session.
