Turkey takes over presidency

The 26th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation Organization (BSEC)-member countries was held in Belgrade and was followed by the two-day session of the BSEC Committee of Senior Officials.

The Armenian delegation was led by RA Deputy Foreign Minister Ashot Hovakimyan.

In his speech, the RA Deputy Foreign Minister mentioned with satisfaction the progress that had been made in the socio-economic spheres during Serbia's presidency and Armenia's role in that. The deputy minister attached importance to raising the level of efficiency and the significance of shaping and promoting the new economic agenda for proper implementation of concrete programs in the region ahead of the 20th anniversary of the BSEC.

In the context of achievements, the deputy minister underlined the adoption of an agreement on cooperation in the sphere of sanitary defense in the BSEC-member countries.

Armenia's efforts aimed at promoting cooperation in the development of information technologies as a member of the IT working group were praised during the meeting. The members mentioned with satisfaction that new Armenian projects had been approved, particularly in the spheres of science and technologies and culture.

More than 80 decisions and proposals were approved during the meeting.

At the end, Serbia transferred the presidency in the BSEC to Turkey, which will take over the presidency in the second half of 2012.

On the same day, the leaders of the BSEC delegations participated in the solemn oath ceremony of newly elected President of Serbia T.Nikolich.

On June 12, the RA Deputy Foreign Minister visited the newly opened office of the RA Honorary Consulate in Belgrade.
