During today's session, the Central Electoral Commission prepared protocols on granting powers to the new members of Yerevan's Council of Elder.

Taking into account the fact that based on the results of the 2009 Council of Elders elections, members of the Council on the Armenian National Congress's (HAK) list Hrant Bagratyan, Lyudmila Sargsyan, Khachatur Kokobelyan (the latter left the HAK in 2011 and was elected deputy on "Heritage" Party's proportional list-ed.), Stepan Demirchyan and Levon Zurabyan were elected deputies of the fifth National Assembly, the CEC, according to the appeals that it has received, terminated their powers as members of the Council of Elders of Yerevan.

They were replaced by the next candidates included in the HAK list in 2009, including Lyova Yeghiazaryan, Norik Yeghiazaryan, Artak Zeynalyan (three of them are from "Republic" Party), non-partisans Ruben Torosyan and Vahagn Khachatryan respectively.

We mention that "Republic" Party stepped out of the HAK alliance after the May 6 parliamentary elections.

CEC President Tigran Mukuchyan told "A1+" that this circumstance couldn't have an impact on the validity of those political party representatives' membership.

Out of those who were elected members of the Council of Elders on the HAK list, only Ruben Torosyan affirmed his willingness to join the Council of Elders during an interview with "A1+".

Artak Zeynalyan from "Republic" Party mentioned that he and his fellow partisans had already declared to boycott the activities of the Council of Elders. Former mayor of Yerevan Vahagn Khachatryan also, in his words, "will continue to boycott for now".
