ARF-D holds rally
The Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) kicked off its meetings with voters with a rally at Freedom Square today.
Before the rally, members of the ARF-D "Nigol Aghbalian" Union marched from the Matenadaran to Freedom Square, screaming "ARF" and waving the tricolor and Dashnak flags.
Among speakers at the rally were ARF-D representatives Vahan Hovhannisyan, Armen Rustamyan and others.
In his speech, leader of the ARF-D parliamentary faction Vahan Hovhannisyan mentioned that the ARF-D would like to return power to the people.
In his speech, Aghvan Vardanyan recalled that the Dashnaktsutyun had participated in the elections three times with 85,000 votes in 1999, 135,000 in 2003 and 180,000 in 2007 and that the party would garner more votes this time.
"We have been the opposition and a part of the government. Today, we are the opposition once again. No matter which camp we have been in, we have always maintained our independence and our principles. We are the only party in Armenia that has become the opposition on its own. We are the only party that hasn't split and is a united team of strong people," said Vardanyan.
ARF-D member Hrant Margaryan declared that the ARF-D had become wiser throughout the years through its long experience, unwavering determination, the ability to tolerate and its never-ending struggle.
As already announced, singer Nersik Ispiryan and pop singers performed for the crowd in the second part of the rally.
