HAK doesn’t agree with police
The Armenian National Congress (HAK) considers the RA Police's statement on the illegitimacy of its rally groundless. According to member of the HAK Gagik Jhangiryan, the law doesn't require that the party submit a notice a week in advance, as the Aparan and Ashtarak municipalities had announced.
In his speech in Ohanavan, HAK member Nikol Pashinyan mentioned: "With this announcement, the police showed what Serzh Sargsyan meant by saying "Forward, Armenia" during the 2008 presidential elections. There has never been a case when any rally be considered illegal during the election campaign. If things continue like this, Serzh Sargsyan will make breathing a privilege."
During a meeting with residents of the Karbi, Ushi and Ohanavan villages of Aragatsotn province, HAK leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan declared that "the citizens of the Republic of Armenia had to take revenge for the votes that were stolen during the last three presidential elections and put an end to the nightmare of the elections that have been falsified for the past fifteen years".
Ter-Petrosyan also touched upon electoral bribes.
"The authorities are giving electoral bribes worth 20,000 drams or 50 dollars. In reality, one vote costs 2,000 dollars since these authorities steal 5 billion dollars from the population every year, and that makes up the shady economy in Armenia. However, the state budget makes up 2.5 billion dollars. This means that the government steals two budgets every year, and only returns a small portion to the citizens in the form of bribes," said the First President.
