"There is no military solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," says speaker of the U.S. Department of State Victoria Nuland.

"Being an OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chair, the U.S. is determined to help the sides reach a peaceful resolution," said Nuland, ITAR-TASS reports.

Nuland also mentioned that the U.S. had called on the sides to "prepare their societies for peace, not war, and refrain from the provocation rhetoric and operations".

Victoria Nuland touched upon Azerbaijani Defense Minister Safar Abiyev's visit to Iran and said Abiyev had declared that "Azerbaijan had to use military measures to liberate its territory from occupation".

Victoria Nuland also touched upon the arrests of 22 people suspected of planning the terrorist attacks against the U.S. and Israeli Embassies in Baku and charged with having relations with the Revolutionary Reserve of Iran.

According to the Voice of America, Nuland said the U.S. Department of State was following up on these developments.

"We are coordinating this information with the U.S. Embassy in Baku, but we still don't have the whole picture," said Nuland.
