In his speech at the March 1 rally, leader of the Armenian National Congress (HAK), RA First President Levon Ter-Petrosyan announced that the upcoming parliamentary elections in reality would be more like the presidential elections because they will serve as preparation.

In response to that statement, leader of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun's (ARF-D) faction Vahan Hovhannisyan said: "I think there is a technicality to this issue. They didn't listen to us and allowed deputies to serve for five years instead of four so that the parliamentary elections would always precede the presidential elections. If the parliament changed every four years, that change would enrich Armenia's political life. Now, it is obvious that if the parliamentary elections are just a couple of months before the presidential elections, it means that there is not even a year left before the presidential elections, and in these conditions, any parliamentary election will have a serious impact on the presidential elections because the elections will lead to the establishment of a political institution, which will have a tremendous impact on politics. It is obvious that the parliament's impact will contribute to or will hurt this or that candidate. As far as the analyses made during yesterday's rally are concerned, there was an interesting thought that the second President is the ship that has drowned, and the third President is the drowning ship...I think the First President is the intolerable burden, which is the reason why the two ships are drowning or have already drowned."

According to Vahan Hovhannisyan, the Dashnaktsutyun will go to the presidential elections with its own candidate. We remind that Vahan Hovhannisyan was that candidate in 2007, reports Aravot Daily.
